I've eaten with friends and colleagues in all these restaurants in (greater) Bangkok. I'm no food expert, but I do know what I like! Many of my older reviews were also published in Japanese on newsclip.be タイ発ニュース速報. Whether you're after Thai food, or craving a Mexican taco, Japanese buffet or fish & chips, you can find it all here. (2016: I'm adding my Tripadvisor reviews here)

* A friendly WARNING: restaurants close, change and move regularly, so before you go make sure to check *

Nameless Restaurant Sukhumvit 53/1

Star full.svgStar full.svgStar full.svgStar empty.svgStar empty.svg In a quiet dead-end soi at the foot of the Thonglor sky train station lies this little restaurant without a name.

It's outside, but a fresh wind blows over the nearby building (women apartments), so it isn't hot and there's a proper roof over the place so you'll never have to sit in the sun. it looks clean and well taken care of, and with some plants on the wall it looks quite homely.

The restaurant sells a range of coffees and teas, good khao man kay (chicken on rice) as a special and for the rest the food is make-to-order.

Fuji Restaurant @ RCA

Star full.svgStar full.svgStar full.svgStar empty.svgStar empty.svg There are dozens Fuji branches all over Bangkok, but this one is located right in the busy entertainment area called RCA (Royal City Avenue).

Its trademark bamboo decorates the huge glass windows of the restaurant. Inside the atmosphere is pleasant, although the music is typical elevator music that they'd better switch off :-)

They serve Japanese food as expected: sushi, sashimi and a lot of dishes

Jeew Jok Banglamphoo (จิวโจ๊กบางลำภู)

Star full.svgStar full.svgStar full.svgStar full.svgStar half.svg The best jok (rice porridge) in town can be had here, served with fresh ginger, spring onions, pork, pepper and on request a raw egg.

Its neighbour of the same family sells great suki served on a sizzling hot plate.

The place is one of the many in a cluster at the corner of Rambutree Road, just off Khao San. All tables and chairs are outside, the lights are bright and

O'Reilly's Irish Pub

Star full.svgStar full.svgStar full.svgStar empty.svgStar empty.svg Typical Irish pub in the heart of foreign Bangkok, at the corner of Thanya road and near Patpong. The bar attracts locals and foreigners, tourists and residents.

There’s a friendly atmosphere, and the pub is decorated in European style with lots of wood, old beer posters and comfortable seats as well as barstools.

A handful of foreign beers like Guinness from the tap, lots more from bottles, and all kinds of spirits too. The food is standard

Sunrise Tacos **** ★

Definitely my favourite Mexican food in town, Sunrise Tacos has branches in Siam Paragon, Emporium and at the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 12. The Soi 12-branch is pleasantly decorated with food photos, and the different sized tables and booths provide for quite a few customers even though the place is small.

The menu covers everything from nachos (corn chips) and other appetisers, to soups and salads, tacos, other kinds of pancakes and home-made pie and cookies. I've tried quite a few
